Race Face sets another industry benchmark with the re-introduction of SIXC - the world's lightest and strongest carbon DH Race/Light FR crank and bar. Building on the unprecedented success of our proprietary Optimized Carbon Technology program, SIXC is poised to rewrite the rules in the 6-8 inch travel bike world.
SIXC (the C is silent, eh!) represents the culmination of years of Race Face engineering in both carbon and all mountain products. Race Face has created a crank and bar for the aggressive rider who demands the ultimate in performance. Strong enough for DH racing or light freeriding, yet feathery enough to propel you past the lycra set, SIXC is the product many epic riders have been waiting for.
"When I first tested the SIXC carbon riser bar it was only available in a single 725mm width, but this year Race Face has added an additional option: a whopping 785mm monster.
The SIXC is made under Race Face's Optimised Carbon Technology programme, which mean's it's constructed from a high quality composite that's strong enough for DH use but light enough for trail riding. It has reinforced clamping zones at the stem, controls and lock-on grip areas, with 8° backsweep and 4° of upsweep.
So what does a 785mm bar feel like on a trail bike? When I first fiitted it to my Orange Five I thought, this is too wide. It was 35mm wider than the Easton Havoc bar it replaced and I seriously considered taking it off. The next time I rode it I didn't think about the width - it felt normal. When I went back to the 750mm bar it felt a little narrow, but within a day or so I'd got used to it again. So if you can get used to any width handlebar, why have a wider one? It increases control and stability. There's more space for lights, GPS, that sort of thing, and if you decided to run a really short stem it can also add a bit of room to the cockpit.
I recognise a wide handlebar isn't for everyone, but if you're into riding hard and fast I advise you give one go. Even if you decide the SIXC is way too wide I'd still recommend it because it's also a 750mm or 740mm bar - it just has an extra 30-40mm stuck on the ends. You can chop that off; it even has the cut marks to guide you."- ‘MBR Magazine: 10/10 Award’ – Paul Burwell
